I read, recently, a person advocating giving a milk bottle ring to your cat for playing. I'd have to advise against it. However, there are many recycling ideas for cat toys you can safely use without risk of choking. One idea is to save the lids, instead. Just place the lid on the floor (flat side up).Your cat will love it.

When selecting a cat toy from the store, look for toys without any kind of loose parts or materials. Cats can play just as roughly as dogs, and can choke just as easily on the pieces.

Cat toys, at least, generally are designed for cats of similar size. There simply isn't the variation that there is in dogs. Most cats weigh between eight and ten pounds. You also don't have to worry as much about chewing. Some kittens, however, are aggressive chewers and will bite very hard on whatever feels good to their little teeth. Even you! My suggestion is to find a toy that is in the basic shape of a hand, and the texture of flesh. Perhaps something made out of rabbit skin or other fur.

If your biggest concern is safety, however, this might be the site to visit:  http://www.petlibrary.co.uk/1/how-to-select-cat-toys/

We sincerely hope you and your cat enjoys a long, safe and happy life together.
